Jindal: Will Not Run For Veep

If John McCain is hoping to pick up a running mate from the exorcist/snake handler wing of the Republican Party, it will not be Bobby Jindal. According to Faux News, Jindal has taken himself out of the running.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Wednesday he will not run for vice president on the Republican ticket, adding himself to a growing number of those pulling themselves out of the race.

Jindal's comments come as speculation is swirling that John McCain might announce his running mate choice imminently, as a way to draw attention away from Barack Obama's high-profile overseas trip.

Perhaps today's cancelled photo op aboard a Louisina oil rig was the omen Jindal needed (since he seems to be big on omens) to take himself out of consideration. At this point, it looks like it's coming down to "Multiple Choice" Mitt Romney and the bridge-neglecting governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty. Great choices.

Final tribute to the Bobby Jindal.

The man is crazy, petty, and horrible for Louisiana.

I was hoping he would run as VP so we could give that state a good push to get them a new governor in 2010.

anyways, I know I posted this yesterday, but I think its just way to good:

It wouldn't have ever been Jindal anyway (2.00 / 1)

There's a long line of entitled folks in the Republican sphere before you get to brown people of any sort.

I wish it weren't the case, but it seems like the way it is.

Re: Jindal: Will Not Run For Veep (none / 0)

for the longest time I have argued that it would not be Pawlenty (I'm from Mn), as I thought Pawlenty was just too much of a quintessential Northern Republican.

Today I've started to change my mind, I think it will be Pawlenty and I think the R's are hoping to symbolically break the back of the MN presidential Dem voting streak. Hell we didn't even vote for Regan in the '84 blood bath. I think McCain wants a Midwestern representative and that is either Mittens or Pawlenty, and Pawlenty just looks better for the Repubs than Mittens. He is young, kind of a "real" maverick in regards to the Republican party on some issues (was  for the drug re-importation), I don't think he will help much with the ultra social conservatives, but none of McCain's choices do. he who wins the middle will win the election and Pawlenty is about as middle as you can get.

It also maybe they are looking to bootstrap someone to run against Obama in 2012 (Yeah, watch the PUMA folks bust my chops for counting my chickens...)

Frankly Pawlenty, or in my opinion Gen. David Petrieus have to be taken seriously for 2012 (wow, I gotta calm down..I am barely going to make it through Novemeber without busting a blood vessel, NOW I am thinking about 2012!)

Re: Jindal: Will Not Run For Veep (none / 0)

God damnit, I hope we don't let our centrist cry babies in our party be responsible for Civilian-Boot licking Patreus having a shot at the whitehouse.

But to quote Wes Clark's 2004 campaign chairmen, real Military leaders are NOT politicians and rarely have a shot at the WH.

Bring on Patreus in 2012, I got a laundry list a mile long on attrocities commited under his watch, as well as countless times he abandoned his pledge to protect our nation and serve our military for the sake of politics.

I can forgive a politician for the transgressions Patreus committed, but he is NOT a politician.

I hate him too for ruining an awesome photoop for obama in the helicopter.  You had two guys visiting Iraq for the sake of piece only to have this douche dilute them with his prescription for war, for the sake of war.

Re: Jindal: Will Not Run For Veep (none / 0)

But saying Petrieus is like saying Swartzkoff. Just cause someone is a military leader doesn't automatically make them a politician, and actually if Obama wins this year it'll be the fifth election where the ex-military man lost out to the non military man... so it is no shoo in by any means.

a sad day, (none / 0)

Jindal woulda canceled out the white backlash in part that Obama is gonna bring. The experience argument woulda hurt against Obama with Jindal on the ticket, dammit. Jindal woulda been an awesome running mate for McCain. He was so ultra-conservative too, enough to turn off moderates.

Romney may actually help the Dems on the issue of jobs, being that Romney's Gordon Gekko-like leveraged buyouts left many people without jobs, and possibly may have some insider trading and IRS issues. If an accounting scandal can be found on Bain Capital, a la Enron, Obama will win in a landslide.

Re: a sad day, (none / 0)

I agree with you, quite a missed opportunity.

I wonder if the GOP barred Condi from running over that one issue.

They need America's inherent racism to win, which implies they believe MORE in the power of racism than the unity America has in fighting it.

Fucking assholes, god damn I hate republicans (dont worry, I was raised to hate them just for this transgression)

Re: a sad day, (none / 0)

I don't think Condi wanted it, too much work.

She wants to go back to Stanford, hit the cocktail party circuit, kick back, write her book and shop.

She doesn't have the drive to want to campaign.
